Shuttered Hostess location reopens under new brand

A bakery outlet that shut down when cake maker Hostess went bankrupt last fall has now reopened with a new brand of breads.

The Herald Journal reports the outlet in Logan re-opened June 4 and is stocked with Franz Family Bakery goods.

The family-owned baking company was founded in 1906 and is based in Portland, Ore. It purchased a bakery location, five depots and seven stores in Utah that were previously owned by Hostess.

Many former Hostess employees have also been hired by Franz. They include Kailey Nichols, who managed the Logan location under Hostess and now manages Franz’s Logan outlet.

The Hostess liquidation approved in November meant more than 18,000 people nationwide lost their jobs. Standard Examiner
