Large Resort Planned for Bear Lake Shore

Garden City will likely have a sprawling new resort space that, if completed, would be Bear Lake's largest resort.

The planned $42 million Waters Edge Resort, a Holiday Inn resort franchise, will include an 84-room hotel, 70 condominiums, 5,000 square feet of conference area and 40,000 square feet of commercial space. The Garden City Planning Commission and the Town Council have voted to approve the preliminary plat for Waters Edge, phases 1 to 5, a planned unit development located at about 50 S. and 150 S. Bear Lake Blvd.

At this point, it is up to the developer, Norman Mecham, of the Garden City-based Vista Realty, to turn in final plans and have them approved by engineers. Then the developer can apply for building permits. TheHerald Journal
