Megaplex to purchase Westates theaters in Cache County

The three largest movie theaters in Cache County are being acquired by Megaplex Theatres, one of Utah’s largest movie theater companies.

Megaplex announced Monday night it plans to purchase 11 movie theater complexes from Westates Theatres. The acquisition includes Providence’s Stadium 8, University Stadium 6 in Logan and Movies 5 in North Logan.

Additionally, Megaplex plans to take over two complexes in Cedar City, five in St. George and one in Mesquite, Nev.

Westates will continue to operate in Elko, Nev.; Page, Ariz.; Montpelier, Idaho; and Holladay, Utah.
This marks the first time Megaplex, the company founded by Larry H. Miller in 1999, has expanded into Cache County. The Westates theaters, in addition to Cinefour, are the only movie theaters in the county that show movies as they’re released or shortly afterward. Herald Journal
